The main aim of TRACK-COVID Stage 2 study is to try and find out what proportion of the population have had the new coronavirus by testing for antibodies in their blood. This type of test looks at whether someone has been infected in the past.
A second aim is to find out how long these potential antibodies remain in the body and their effectiveness in preventing additional infections from the same virus. We will do this through testing each month over a period of approximately 1 year. The frequency at which we send these sample packs to you may vary, depending on the need of the study but it is unlikely to
be more frequent than monthly.
As this is a new virus, it is not fully understood if these antibodies are present following an infection and remain in the body several months later, or if they provide some immunity.
